Carving Pumpkins 10/30

We carved our pumpkins as soon as we got home Sunday. The kids had these great pumpkins to carve, and we hated the idea of wasting them, so...
We CARVED!

Roc's Master Piece
Chad carved an awesome haunted house, but for some reason (he took way too long) I don't have a picture of it.

St. George 10/25-10/30

We just got back from a fun filled week in our favorite place: ST. GEORGE with our favorite people: THE GARNERS! We had some car issues Monday morning to deal with so we didn't get on the road until about 3:30. But once we were on the road the kids were great as usual! We only had one 30 second pit stop off the side of the freeway for Roc, but other than that we drove straight through to Cedar City with 6 quiet kids! We stopped for some dinner at the Pizza Factory in Cedar then finished our journey to the St. George house. When we got there, the house was a SAUNA. It turns out the heater was on. It completely overheated. The Satellite dish said it was over 123 degrees. All the candles in the house were melted, the counter tops were hot to the touch and the TV and other appliances wouldn't work! It was way too hot to go to sleep. So we opened all the windows, got the AC running and took a little trip to Walmart at 10:30 pm to kill some time while it cooled down. It was a fun little adventure. When we got back, it had cooled off significantly, but the sheets were still hot, as if we had just pulled them out of the dryer! We had such a fun week, I can't believe how fast it went by!
Trip Favs:
Looney Toons: as long as this was playing we didn't hear a peep out of the kids!
McDonalds double stacks: eaten at least a couple times a day
Climbing the St. George Crack
Visiting our favorite parks
Swimming at our favorite pool
SLEEPING IN! These kids sleep!
Bringing moms favs to McDonalds: Cafe Rio, Kneaders, Paradise Cafe {you can only eat so much McDonalds!}
THRILLER at Tuacahn
Playing with Daddies when they came on Thursday
Lots and lots of TREATS
Cute kiddos that after a week of spending 24 hours together STILL can't get enough of each other!!!

And because a good MOM always knows how to put a damper on a perfect vacation -
I decided it would be a great idea to do family pictures while there... bad idea!

Spooky Halloween Dinner 10-21

Sarah invited us over for a spooky mystery Halloween dinner. Not only was it super fun, it was yummy! The kids always have so much fun over there, so the adults get to have our own fun. Can't wait for a week together in St. George!

Happy Birthday Porter

Porter is EIGHT!!

I seriously can't believe it. He has gotten to be such a big kid, and so fast! He's such a good helper, I can't imagine life with out him - I miss him while he is at school, and count down the days (better say hours these days) until I can watch him play soccer, football, basketball, or baseball. He is so involved in everything that he wears me out, but he loves it all so much it is hard to pick just a few!
Porter just started cub scouts and is loving that... we just have a hard time finding anytime to go to scouts, or even work on any achievements.
He loves school. I've heard through the grape vine, that he says his teacher is the "hot" 2nd grade teacher :). She seems to be the perfect teacher for him. She pushes academics, but is so positive and encouraging too! He has lots of friends at school, and plays hard every recess, but as far as I can tell minds his manners while in the class room. He got all three's on his report card, and is learning so much every single day.
When not playing an organized sport, him and his neighborhood buddies have a pick up game of some kind going on. It always starts with 3 or 4, but before the day is over there are 8 or so kids in my back yard.
Occasionally when it gets dark, or if it's too cold to be outside , he will be playing on the computer. He usually plays really good with Trace, and even lets Roc have turns on the games too. I feel really lucky to have boys who can play well together, even though its not all the time. :)

Trent and the Girls came to visit 10-19

Trent, Carin, and the Girls came for a visit FINALLY. It was so fun to see them for a couple of days. We played at Chuck e Cheeses, went swimming, they came to watch Porters "Mini Bowl" (which they lost 23-26 :(), and had a dinner at my Moms and Dads!

Porters big SURPRISE 10-18

Chad woke Porter up Tuesday morning a little before 6:00 AM. He told him to go get dressed. Porter was so confused. He kept saying "where are we going?" Chad wouldn't tell him where they were going, and just kept telling him to get dressed. They got in the car and headed south. When they got to the airport Porter asked why they were there. Chad said that they were going on an airplane - but still gave no clue as to where they might be flying too! Once they got to LAX someone said something about fishing, and Porter wanted to know if they were renting fishing poles... Some where in the LAX airport Porter saw something about
Disney Land
and figured out that was where they were going.
Chad and Porter had a blast running around Disney Land and California Adventure ALL day long. They rode almost everything and had time to ride a few favorites twice. After a fun filled day, they had to hurry back to the airport to catch their plane home. They landed back in Utah after midnight!
Trace and Roc for feeling pretty left out. I had to hear
"THATS NOT FAIR" All day!! I must admit I wanted to be saying it right along with them.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PORTER!
We hope your 8th birthday is one you will never forget!

Pumpkin Patch 10-14

For Porters family party he wanted everyone to go on the hayride out to the pumpkin patch. Everyone dropped everything to do it last minute! We had so much fun with Farmer Jim Layton as our driver. He was an old farmer who was having fun being a part of our fun night! He even let Porter pick an extra pumpkin for being the birthday boy! After we all picked out HUGE pumpkins, we headed back to our house for dinner, treats, and presents. Grandma and Grandpa Hansen gave porter his very own set of scriptures. I can't believe Porter is going to be 8. We will have more birthday celebrations next week, but this was a fun way to start the parties out!

Character Day 10-13

Life seems to be getting crazier, and crazier everyday. October is such a fun month - but GEEZ... It sure is BUSY! Trace's teacher had all the kids pick a character from a book to dress up as. Trace decided to be a dinosaur from "Dinosaurs love underpants". He's loving school, and we feel so lucky to have Mrs. Adams be his teacher. Parent teacher conferences were this week, and what do you know - Mrs. Adams loves Trace too! She said he is such a great student, and is so nice to everyone. It always makes me smile to hear great things about my kids!

Flag Football 10-12

Another year of flag football has come, and is almost over! It's playoff time, and so far we are doing great. Porters team will play in the semi finals on Monday. The season started a little slow, but has quickly become one of my favorite parts of the week! If he wins Monday, they play for the title on Wednesday.
