St George Memorial Weekend

We picked Chad up from work on Friday and headed down south for some family fun in the sun! As always - we had a blast.
The night we got there Porter Shawn and I ran in the midnight 5k. It didn't go anything like i had planned. Porter got a side ache a few steps in and we ended up walking a lot of it. It funny when it's you in the situation and not someone else. I didn't want to be the mom that cared more about the race than my kid. You know that kind of mom :). But I didn't want to be the one that just lets my kids quite when things get hard. 3 miles is too long to walk so I settled for something in between. We walked some, ran some, and cried some - but he finished and was glad he did.
The next day we got to go to Entrada to swim! It is beautiful... just like all the other perks we get from Steve knowing Craig! Then we headed to the Movies to see Kung Fu Panda, then to dinner at pizza factory, and then to the dizzy park. The Cory impressed all the kids with his frog catching abilities. What a cool Uncle. Perfect day!
On Sunday we hiked around the red rocks and through the "Crack" of St George. It was really windy, so we didn't last long. The kids thought the slot canyon was great, so I'm sure we will get to do it again. We celebrated showers Birthday with Steaks, and then headed over to the park for some tennis. Another great day.
Monday everyone packed up, but after packing up, we talked Cory and Maria into staying with Brian and Alissa and our family. We swam, bowled, shopped, ate at Cafe Rio's, and then bowled again. All the Hansen brothers are loving bowling right now. Chad would bowl every night if he could, and seems to fit it in all the time!
Tuesday we packed up and headed home. Porter was trying out for a comp soccer team that night so we hurried out of there.
The tryouts were Tuesday and Thursday nights. On Friday morning we got the call that he had made it! He is so excited to start playing lots of soccer in a few weeks. Way to to Port man!
